Home Office Planning

By Dina Petrakis

For a bigger office option, consider revising the way you are using your living room, frequently an unused area designated for holidays or formal occasions, if that. Creating more of a “library” means you can have an office that you will really enjoy using, often in one of the nicest rooms of the house. If you are in a historic property, as our office is, you will actually be using the space more as it was originally intended- a study, or gentleman’s parlor, for business.

Home offices are the fastest growing remodeling projects today.  First thing determine the equipment (fax, computer, printer, copier, etc.) needed.  Next, decide the furnishings (desk, file storage, bookshelves, lighting).  Often a home office can be set up in a storage closet, guest bedroom, under a staircase, above a garage- maximizing convenience and utility, minimizing cost.  If you need help figuring out how to fit an office into your home, a Space Lift by Littlerock might be just the ticket!
